The Lake Catholic Difference

Our 3,600-square-foot Zappitelli Family Strength and Conditioning Complex is a state-of-the-art facility available to all athletic teams, students, staff, and alumni. With more than 11,000 pounds of free weights, our conditioning and cardio rooms are also complete with treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, and bikes. Our rooms also have full body conditioning and plyometric equipment to help our student-athletes with speed, agility, flexibility, and power. Step inside and you’ll see how it rivals the fitness facilities at many colleges.

Coach King is a dedicated, full-time strength & conditioning coach, who works with the majority of our student-athletes.

Who We Are & What We Stand For

The mission of the Strength & Conditioning Staff is to provide a well-designed, collaborative training program based on sound physiological principles.

Our primary focus is Total Athlete Development with the application of sport-specific elements when appropriate. Utilizing evidence-based methods to achieve safe and productive physical training by way of a periodic plan will be our primary emphasis, to maximize the genetic potential of the student-athlete.

We are committed to providing the student-athlete with a safe and consistent means of physical and mental training that exhibits proven results.

Our goal is to provide the student-athlete with the BEST “hands-on” strength & conditioning program possible.

In all our endeavors, we are committed to the principles of ethical conduct, integrity, and the pursuit of excellence.

The Lake Catholic Athletic Program will seek to create an environment that cultivates excellence, not solely measured by victories, but by the quality of the character reflected by each individual within our teams and organization.

  • To provide the student-athletes with a safe, consistent, and productive way of physical and mental training.
  • Guide student-athletes to help them reach their genetic potential by setting goals and monitoring progress at all times.
  • Devise a system following basic physiological principles of training, using a direct, simple coaching approach that tracks a variety of metrics, as well as demanding a standard of high-level effort, championship attitude, and mental toughness.
  • All training protocols are designed and implemented with the same underlying structure to ensure cohesion throughout our Athletic Programs.

We aim to develop a comprehensive program based on scientifically proven strength and conditioning concepts while taking a no-nonsense approach and that is built on accountability, championship work ethic, physical and mental toughness, and self-sacrifice.

  • Develop a system of training for speed, power, strength, flexibility, and conditioning
  • Increase physical strength of student-athletes
  • Increase explosive power output
  • Maximize genetic speed potential
  • Increase physical endurance
  • Increase work capacity in all aspects of physical training
  • Assess and improve static and functional flexibility
  • Develop specific conditioning programs for all sports
  • Determine the frequency, mode, and method of training
  • Develop innovative procedures to add training variety
  • Develop an objective goal program for student-athletes
  • Determine the mode of progress reporting and athlete recording
  • Teach and promote proper nutritional habits for athletes
  • Establish a clear line of communication between strength staff, sports medicine, and sports coaches to define a plan of attack and to create specific goals
  • Work to identify imbalances and “problem areas”
  • Reduce the risk of injury within the sport, and minimize weight room injuries
